Exmoor National Park

Introduction to the Park

Once visited, never forgotten – Exmoor National Park. And so much to see and do!

Exmoor National Park is the place to explore and discover; somewhere where you’ll have a truly memorable experience. There’s something for everyone – for amblers and ramblers, cyclists, horseriders, nature lovers and solitude seekers.

The National Park is not a ‘natural’ landscape. It is a living, dynamic and working environment. For thousands of years, people have lived and worked on Exmoor. They have left behind fascinating glimpses of past lives and cultures and the natural and cultural heritage that we value as special today. We are learning more and more from archaeological sites and exciting excavations.

Working with others, the National park Authority helps look after wildlife, landscapes, moorland and buildings and settlements.

Getting There

By Train  Wessex trains operate services from all over the country to Taunton, Tiverton, Exeter and Barnstaple.  There is also the West Somerset Steam Railway which runs from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead, linking with bus services and providing opportunities for walking.
